The picture on the left is the way we shipped to puppet to him and the picture on the right is how she looks after the remake.
Recently we have been in touch with our good friend Daniel Clemente. He had purchased an old woman puppet but could not seem to find her voice and personality. He was thinking of selling her. A while back we had suggested a trip to the local Thrift Store on another puppet.
Just before selling this puppet, Daniel decided to go Thrift Shopping. With very little time and effort and certainly not much money, Daniel came up with a new outfit for the puppet that completely changed her look and personality. Her voice suddenly came to him and she now has a new life in his group of puppets.
If you have never gone shopping for a new outfit it is an experience that you will enjoy. Daniel being the kind of crazy that makes the vent world so much fun has now been made fun of for going into clothing shops and looking for ladies clothes.
By his own admission it was a bit embarrassing to take the puppet into the changing rooms to fit her new outfit. We had great fun over Daniels experiences shopping. The bottom line is that for him, he got a brand new puppet for just a few dollars.
Try it for yourself. We know you will enjoy the process.
We will talk again next week,
Steve and JET
I went thrift store shopping to change the character of my Axtell Old Storyteller puppet.
From 3 different thrift stores, I bought grey sweatpants, a black karate jacket with a bright colored karate logo and a mans wool tartan tie that I turned into his karate “belt”. Zeke is now a Senior Olympian having proudly earned his “Senior Plaid Belt”. That’s how he came to the 2015 ConVENTion for an Open Mike night appearance.
I also purchased a long time ago from Axtel the old gal that went with the storyteller. I was also thinking of selling her as I couldn’t seem to get a script just right. I decided to try the local thrift shop. And now with curly orange hair a totally foxy lady emerged. She is not only the hit of my shows but I write a humour column under her name and picture. For I believe at that time for everything the cost was around $10. So from almost being sold, she has become quite the charming wisecracker. I also did that with one I purchased from thedummyshop. They both are quite a delight. Thank you.
