One of the really informative events at this years VHC was the seminar given by Terry Fator. It may take a few weeks to give you the meat of the material that he gave us, but he had some really great concepts.
First. Steal all the ideas that you can get. If they are worth having, steal them. (Don’t hang up yet.)
Any good idea that someone else has, steal it. Now before you flip out – stop there. Having stoled the idea now stop right there. NO ONE can own an idea. So by merely stealing the idea and having not used it in its original format, you have done absolutely nothing wrong.
Take the idea that you just stole and hold it in your mind. Twist it all around and manipulate it. How can you change it so that it is even better than the original idea – but different. For example. If you have stolen the idea for a cute GREEN frog, make it even cuter by making it purple. Still a good idea just a completely different idea.
The idea does not have to be about frogs. It can be about something totally different. Steal it. Work it over and make it better and make it different. MAKE IT YOUR OWN. OWN IT. Then it is no longer stolen. Write down what you have done. Don’t even think about relying on your memory alone.
We will have another idea to work on next week.

“Stolen” ideas are known as INSPIRATIONS! When you see something and use it as a basis your own creativity, you make it your version, which hopefully has enough difference that people recognize YOUR creativity.
