From time to time we learn of different things that are ventriloquism related that we feel warrant passing on to all our friends. This week we got an Email from Al Albers telling us about a new book that he has just written.
I think the best way to tell you about it is to copy his email to us and let you read all about it for yourselves. So here it is.
Good evening Steve,
This is Al Albers, from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I was talking with my good friend, Bill Warren (a fellow magician and vent; cc’d on this email) yesterday afternoon and the topic of my recent mystery novel came up. Before he left my house, he suggested that I contact the ventriloquial societies/groups. His rationale: “Your novel is about a ventriloquist (Gary Egan) and I think vents would enjoy reading it; I did.” It made sense and he promised to send me your email address. He did. Perhaps the best way to start is with a 100-word synopsis of my novel titled, A Pocket Full of Voices.
“When John Michaels received a phone call from a Mount Hope City, NJ lawyer, it meant one thing: someone was in trouble. The only person John knew who lived and worked in this East Coast city, where legalized gambling is sanctioned, was long-time friend and fellow entertainer, Gary Egan.”
“While money legally changed hands in casinos, high-value merchandise illegally changed hands in hotel rooms. And according to the sheriff, Gary was an alleged accomplice.”
“Subpoenaed as a character witness, John decides to conduct a clandestine investigation to prove Gary’s innocence. But when Gary’s lawyer is murdered, the danger intensified twofold.”
I’ve taken the liberty to include a link to Amazon. To date, I’ve received eight reviews. As an independent (indie) author, I don’t have the luxury of a major publisher helping promote my books. I have to rely strictly on word-of-mouth and my own marketing. I’d really appreciate if you would take a few moments to read what others have said as well as my novel’s superb star rating. I’ve also included a second link for your consideration. This particular review has been picked up by numerous other web sites, including one in Canada.

Two of my Amazon reviews are from international readers: one is from British Columbia and the other (TC) is from Switzerland. In closing, I’d like to emphasize that my novels are the type that a “man of the cloth” would read and enthusiastically recommend to his congregation. With that said, I was hoping you could let other vents know about an exceptional mystery novel. Thanks for allowing me a few moments of your time.
Sincerely,
Al
