Wanna get Necked?

Got your attention huh? No I was not saying “Wanna get Naked?” That is not “family” so I would not have said that.

It has come to my attention a while back that we had changed to style of the necks on our puppets. Most makers and even us, used to do our necks like this.

Sorry for the quality of the copy, but it happens when you take a section out of a picture and blow it up for detail. Our necks used to be free floating with the neck sleeve not anchored around the neck line. The thought was that it gave greater flexibility of movement.

Not long ago, JET did some experimenting and discovered that even with the neck stitched evenly around the throat opening, that there was still plenty of flexibility of movement in the neck. What a difference in appearance though.

It is not a major thing, but its just another example of how JET is constantly looking for ways to improve your characters so that you have the most lifelike puppets that are possible. The more we can do to make your puppets look good, the easier it is for you to have a great performance with a little effort on your part.

That’s all for now. We will talk again real soon. Keep the comments coming, we always love hearing from you.

(Again, sorry for the picture quality, but take note of the way the neck now positions itself. It is very much like the natural wrinkles that you would find on a human, while still providing the full range of motion that you expect to find for your characters animations.)
