The biggest reward we get. . .

As we labor to create what we hope are usable and good puppets, one of the things we most enjoy is seeing the puppet in pictures or videos so that we can enjoy the fruits of our labor. Of course its not really work when you enjoy what you are doing, be we do work hard at having fun.

When we do get videos from our Vent friends, we love to share them with you. Of course we can’t share all of them or we would not be able to do anything else. We also have limits on the type of material that we will share. . .family only. That said, keep em coming. We love it.

This week we were honored in getting a video to share from our great friend John Pizzi. John has been getting puppets from us almost since the beginning.

He has pushed and pushed JET outside her comfort zone and has patiently inspired her to do new and unusual things. To all of you who have gotten puppets from The Dummy Shoppe with moving eyes (a first in the world of Soft Sculpture) you can blame John. He pushed hard for over a year to get moving eyes.

Since John is a VERY working Vent, I have spent many hours on the phone with him late at night discussing new concepts for puppets. I think of these times as brain storming, John probably thinks he is just using us to stay awake at the wheel while he drives home after a late night gig.

Anyway, John posted this video this week and we thought we would share it with you. Notice that John does a masterful job of keeping his puppet “Swami Riva” in motion at all times. That is exactly what we have talked about in posts in the past. That is what makes the character come alive.

Enjoy.

Keep the notes and videos coming. They are (as Pacman would say) our power pills. When we see one, we become “invincible” for a short period and can get remotivated to keep up with all the fun.

Until next time,

Steve and JET

  1. Very funny and wow what a great figure you guys have created. Another example of how a piece of art can be brought to life.
