An Opportunity to Take Advantage of the Slow Season

We are all taking a deep breath and trying to get a well deserved rest from the fun but tiring activities of the Holidays.

Now lets take a minute and find a way to reset our skills in a positive way to be able to take advantage of this slow season of the year.

We all want to hear from audiences that are truthful while yet being kind as they give us feedback on our performances. Well, lets find just such an audience. First lets realize that to find such an audience we probably won’t be able to get paid for our time in this effort.

Where can we find such an audience? I know of no better place than your local retirement home. It is a captive audience. You will never find a more appreciative audience and they will heap tons of kind comments on you for the amount of effort that you put out on their behalf.

All you have to do is look in the phone book. Call one or two retirement facilities and ask for the entertainment director. Tell them your name. Tell them that you are a ventriloquist and that you would like to schedule a time to come perform for their residents at no charge.

You will be welcomed with open arms. I have never yet heard of anyone who has been declined from a chance to go entertain a group of lonely older folks who just want to be loved and entertained.

I promise you that you will learn things about your act and improve your skills in the process. You will also get far more back from this older generation than you ever give them.

Give it a try. It is a win win situation.
