This year at Vent Haven ConVENTion we were honored to meet a sweet young lady who we believe has a lifetime in Ventriloquism ahead of her. There is so much to tell about her that we are going to have to tell you over two weeks.
For this week, we are just going to copy her bio that we were given by our good friend and JET’s soft sculpture mentor, Gary Owen. Enjoy this part and next week we will show you some extremely good video of Darci Farmer. She will blow your socks off for a 10-11 year old.
Ventriloquist Darci Farmer
From the time she was 6 years old, Darci Farmer has excelled in everything she does. Whether it’s competing in state or regional gymnastics, singing Broadway show tunes in pageant competitions or performing ventriloquism in regional and national talent shows, Darci has proven she’s a natural.
Since winning overall “Best Entertainer” at her very first pageant in 2011, Darci continues to perform beyond expectations. At the age of 8, after winning several first place honors in state and national Cinderella pageants, Darci competed against 65 other girls from around the world at the International Cinderella Pageant winning first place in every category.
Darci became interested in the art of ventriloquism in 2014, teaching herself lip control, character voices, puppet manipulation and most remarkably, yodeling without moving her lips. Only a month after acquiring her first Katie puppet, Darci entered and won 1st place as overall “Best Act” among adult and child performers in “Edmond’s Got Talent.”
Shortly thereafter, professional ventriloquist, Gary Owen was so impressed with Darci’s talents, he voluntarily took on the roll as Darci’s ventriloquist coach and business manager. Since then, Darci has won numerous top honors in a variety of national and international talent and pageant competitions.
On March 27th, 2016 Darci made her national television debut on NBC’s “Little Big Shots,” hosted by Steve Harvey.
In July 2016, Darci was the first child ventriloquist ever to perform on an evening show in the 40 year history of the International Ventriloquist Convention, where she fronted for celebrity ventriloquists Kevin Johnson and Todd Oliver and received a standing ovation from over 600 ventriloquists.
Darci’s appearance on Little Big Shots has been viewed on NBC’s Youtube channel by well over one million-one hundred thousand nationwide. What is more amazing are the over three million views of a performance Darci did for her school this fall.
All this exposure gained international attention and has earned a number of professional bookings plus a soon-to-be-released appearance on the U.K. version of Little Big Shots currently being videotaped this week in London, England.
Darci next challenge will be auditioning for auditioning for the producers of America’s Got Talent mid-November in Austin, Texas.
Capturing the attention of Las Vegas Ventriloquist, Terry Fator, he commented “Darci is Awesome! She really has the chops and has a great future ahead of her!”
