Recently we have become acquainted with a nice gentleman in Westerngrund, Germany. His name is Siegfried Eberle. We talked quite a bit via Email over the last several months and he quickly became someone that we felt like we have known for a long time.
On Friday, October 6, 2016 we were ready to ship his puppet out to him. That morning we got up bright and early so that we could leave town for a couple of days.
Our local Post Office was not yet open and we did not want to wait for an extra hour. We decided to just go on down the road and find another Post Office. That always works well if you are shipping a package to a town in the USA. Any Post Office will work for that. . . . unless you are shipping something out of the Country.
For International packages, you must ship from a “real” Post Office instead of a smaller Contract Station.
As it turned out, we passed many small Contract Stations before finally finding a real Post Office in a town 2 hours down the road. We shipped the puppet from Collinsville, Alabama. End of story. . . .we thought.
Usually, all packages will go from one post office to a larger hub station and from there to Miami. They depart the US from Miami and go straight to the foreign Country.
On Wednesday morning I got an email from our German friend and he outlined what he had found on the USPS tracking system.
His puppet had gone from: Collinsville, Alabama to Birmingham, Alabama. From there to Miami, Florida and then to West Palm Beach, Florida. Then on to Louisville, Kentucky and from there to Philadelphia, PA.
Our friend was inquiring whether we had sent his puppet on a tour of the entire USA. We were both good naturedly laughing at the situation when I decided that this would be a fun topic to share with you. Just before writing this, I went to the tracking system and much to my delight discovered that the puppet had gone from Philadelphia to Bologne, Germany in a single hop.
Both us and Seigfried are hoping that the puppet will stay on that side of the Atlantic and go straight to Seigfried’s home in Germany.
Anyway, it was funny and it just goes to show you that YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN NEXT.
That is all for now. Talk to you soon.
