Does Your Puppet’s Personality Match His/Her Character?

We recently dealt with the fact that your puppets voice needs to match the puppets character. There is also the additional factor that the puppets personality much match his/her character.

If you have a puppet that is an old man, you must have an old mans voice. That much is a given. The other factor is that the puppet must act like and behave like an old man.

He must moan and groan when he moves. We all know that being old is not fun. He must have arthritis that hurts him with every breath he takes. He must complain that many parts of his body no longer work the way they did when he was younger.

Conversely, if your character is a young attractive female, she must have the voice of a young person. She must have a personality that is young and bubbly and full of life. You get the picture.

If your puppet is an old drunk, make sure that he acts the part from start to finish.

You can fill in the blanks for each type of character that you might have. Make sure that your puppet seems to be authentic and your audience will love him and want to see much more of you and your character.

Thats all for now folks,
