This is probably the ultimate team of actors that you can study. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. You can be any more puppet and vent like and still not have a puppet and vent in the situation.
These two comedic geniuses were about the zenith of two actors that played off of each other just for laughs. One almost always played the smart guy with the supposed more serious side while the other took the complete approach of just being lovably dumb.
If you were to go to YouTube and study some of their many videos, you can get a wealth of perspective on how two characters can play off of each other in their efforts to be funny.
This pair can teach you more of how to use your puppet to be the wise cracker while you are at the same time playing off of the audience. Again as we have said before, you have even greater possibilities than any TWO had while working together then they did, because you are completely in control of both your acting and the acting of your puppet.
