How to be a failure

Something New

I have been following all the comments on another site lately. It seems to be a very common complaint that puppet makers don’t have good relationships with puppet buyers.

Many comments have come in that are absolute horror stories. A maker will sell a product (yet unmade) and tell the customer when it will be done. (I interject that it does not make any difference how long the period of time is. It can be one month or one year. The complaint is that people want to know what to expect.)

It seems that a large number of makers will say almost anything to get the order, and then they will (mostly) eventually send you your puppet. A huge complaint is that when the promised time arrives, these makers will not be bothered to answer Emails. This really makes people mad. It is rude, discourteous, and the sign of someone who is telling the customer that they do not matter. In my mind it is the sign of a person who is a FAILURE.

Now the good news. We pride ourselves on keeping commitments. In all the years we have been in existence in the world of soft, we have only missed one promised date. (by three days)  This was 6 years ago when I had a heart attack and JET was in the hospital with me.   With the exception of weekends, holidays and ConVENTion, we try to respond to all emails within 4 – 24 hours. We understand that we are not here for us, rather we are here for you.

We only exist as long as we put out a great product and maintain true friendships with all of our customers. It is better to turn someone away on the front end then to tell them you will get it done by their date and know you cannot keep your word.

What it really boils down to is this. Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You. It really works.

We value beyond dollars the friendships we have with each of you. We love it when we go to ConVENTion and we can look forward to seeing each of you who attend. If there are problems. . .fix them.

That is all for now. We will talk soon.

Steve and JET
