Hi Everyone,
Just a quick status update. We are still having some issues with the Newsletter distribution, but we hope that by next week they will be solved and everything will be back to normal.
Now, for the good stuff. When you are performing, does your puppet respond to you? When you say something to your puppet or to someone in the audience, does your puppet just sit there as though lifeless or does he/she respond to you. Case in point, if you say something to your puppet, does the puppet shake his/her head or laugh at you or put his hand over his mouth as though he is astonished by your comment?
Just like when you are talking to another person, your puppet should show surprise, shock, astonishment, anger, happiness and other forms of emotion even when he/she is not speaking. When he is speaking, make sure that he is moving, or shaking his head or any other thing to show that he is in fact alive. It is all about the illusion that the puppet is real and alive that makes your act the best that it can be.
Get in front of a mirror and practice. It is not rocket science but it will make a big difference on the way your audience perceives your skills.
We will talk again next week.
