I’m Baaaaaack…

Did you ever do something that you were completely unprepared for and when it was over you found that you had done a really horrible job of the new task?

Well, that is exactly what I have just been through. On April 6th, I did something I was not prepared for. I had a major heart attack. I had never done it before and was not prepared for the experience. I had no idea just how many holes a medical team could poke into you withing a short period of time. I will now forever feel a certain kinship to a pin cushion.

Talk about confused. Get more rest. Wake up for us to poke a few more holes into you. Go back to sleep.

Anyway, as badly as I messed up the performance of the attack, I finally finished the show. I am now back to the office in the Shoppe and slowly but surely getting caught up. The good news (at least for me) is that there is no ultimate damage from a lifetime to too many greasy cheeseburgers. I will be changing my diet (not my choice, but sometimes decisions get made by others on our behalf).

Not where were we when all this foolishness began. Oh yeah. we were in the middle of a writing contest. We thought about just marching forward into the judging phase, but then we realized that we would not be being fair to all the contestants if we did not do justice to the first round of the judging.

So that is what we will do this week and then next week we will publish the first round winners for general voting next week.

So sorry for all the inconvenience this has caused. Trust me on this. I did not pull this intentionally.

That is all for now. We will talk more next week.

  1. We all missed you and are so glaaaad that you are baaack. (And we pray for your continued healing. You will not even miss the cheeseburgers…)

    1. I had no idea that you were having this traumatic experience 🙁 It sounds like you had great medical care. You will probably be eating the kind of food that so many Californians eat: fresh fruits and veggies, salads, grilled or baked meats, not much in the way of deep fried foods, not much in the way of fast food. I would recommend you read or listen to the book: SALT, SUGAR, FAT. I just finished it, and it is quite an eye opener. Keep well!

  2. Thank you for your heart news. As a fellow cardio patient, I can tell you DO WHAT THE DOCTORS SAY about lifestyle, exercise, diet and willingness to make LIFE changes. You must become a true POST heart attack fellow. George

  3. my prayers are for continued health recovery…I’ve spent the 1st 50 some years of my life in total abandon when it comes to junk food and soda pop…now doing shows from a wheel chair is not so funny….stay well my friend

  4. Steve so glad every thing went so well for you. Do what the Dr’s say and I look forwaed to seeing you at the ConVention this year.

  5. Good news is that God loves us and has forgiven us by His grace as we trust in Jesus Christ perfect work of salvation on the cross and our puppet bodies will be cast off one day and we will receive a way cool super divine body to clothe our spirit if we trust in Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of The heavenly Daddy God of all creation. I will live forever but not in this temporary puppet earth suit for I will be recovered in a glorious heavenly suit that will never need cleaning or wear out.
    Love you guys,
    Mark

  6. Congrats on the rapid recovery! Keep up the good work, the puppet community is not ready for another loss. I look forward to seeing the new creations, and receiving the VERY sensible advice you kindly offer the performers.

  7. Good to see you back and doing well. I tried that trick about 2 years ago, wasn’t much fun, but I’m still here. Take care of yourself, do what the Doctor says, and all will be fine.
    Best;
    Bob Conrad

  8. Wow. Please take care of yourself! The script writing contest helped us write our first actual script. We ALL are honored to be performing at the 2015 international ventriloquist ConVENTion in Cincinnati on July 16th. Jerry and Doug the Talking Dog will attempt to sing our original THE JESSICA BLUES as they did recently on live TV: http://youtu.be/oAWwZDbfvuQ
