Something New
First, don’t feel discouraged and think that you have done something wrong right now. You are far from being the only Vent who is currently not working or who has had bookings cancelled.
First, lets not dwell on the negative. In all honesty, puppet sales have not been wonderful since this whole thing began but that is ok. We like you are going to be ok. We feel blessed that we nor anyone that we know have been impacted directly by this virus. Our hearts go out to all who have been harmed by this problem.
Now enough of the negative. Lets focus on the good. Instead of not having enough time to practice Vent skills, you have a short window of just a few weeks to spend time in your back bedroom in front of a mirror working diligently on not having lip movement.
You can spend hours on YouTube watching videos of hundreds of other good vents and finding ways to benefit from their skills. You can spend a lot of time working on writing new material for your act.
Take a tip and avoid any form of material on this situation. Folks are worn out by never ending coverage of this and the last thing they want is humor related to a bad time in their lives.
This is your time to practice, Practice, PRACTICE. Don’t waste this time. You might not ever have such an opportunity again. Take the opportunity to work your puppets over and make sure there are no issues that need your attention.
Spend time with your family because when things get moving again you won’t have the same type of quality time to make lasting memories.
Above all, find someone less fortunate then you and do something to lift them up.
