We are wanting your feedback on a new idea that we are thinking of doing. Over several years, we have had many Vents approach us and ask if there is anyone out there who could teach them to make puppets. We have been mulling this over for some time and we finally concluded that we have the very thing that might just work if enough people would like to get involved.

Our personal home in North Alabama has 3-1/2 bathrooms, 7 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, recreational space, and all the room needed for The Dummy Shoppe. We are thinking of possibly holding a 4 day class in January of 2020 where you could come and be instructed on how to build your own puppet(s) by Master Puppet Builders.

What would be included would be lodging, food, materials to build your own puppet. The cost would be $1,200.00 per person with four days of one on one training at our facilities. The class size would be limited to no more than 6 students with Each of two Master Puppet Makers working with only 3 students.

This is not yet a firm situation, but we would like to hear from you. Let us know any ideas you might have. Once we finalize the situation, each person who has expressed a desire to come and learn the art of puppet making will have to put $250.00 down to secure their position at the class.

At the end of the class each student will receive a Certificate of Completion from The Dummy Shoppe Puppet School and you will be able to go home with the puppet that you created while you were here.

Let us know your thoughts and ideas.

Until Next Time,

Steve and JET

  1. Sounds like a great idea. As a wearer of kilts, I wore a different kilt the first year (2012) I attended the ConVENTion, I will pass on that been done (kilt making workshop) by famous kilt makers. I know of at least one in the US and one in Canada.

  2. I would love to do that! Great idea! Unfortunately I probably couldn’t make it to the US. I live in Canada. Would it be something you could teach online with something like zoom? Love your puppets. I have one of my own and I just love him Liz

    1. Hi Liz,

Thanks for the nice comments. The reason we could not teach the course online is that by us doing it here we are able to provide all the needed tools. Power saws, Drill Presses, Power Sanders, Industrial Sewing Machines to name just a few. Then there are about 10,000 patterns, fabrics, and related materials. Just not compatible with an online class.

  3. would absolutely love it. i’ve made attempts to start one, but a lot to figure out.
have a couple i would like to do.
