Something New
Have you ever tried to think of ways to expand on your Vent characters so that you get the most mileage for your writing and performing? One way to do this, is to have your principal character constantly finding little things to gripe about each of the other characters. If he is an old man, he can complain about all of his siblings. He can fuss about just how silly some other character seems to him. Make it a point that this “person” is never happy with anything in his life.
There are so many things that he/she can complain about. Someone has body odor. Someone else has the worst breath in the world. Someone is just downright stupid. If he should occasionally seem to be happy about something, it can be the misfortune of someone else. Maybe someone is going to have all their teeth pulled out, and that will make that person a little less ugly or will make their breath not smell so bad.
In the process of making your character seem so completely unlikeable, you will find that he/she will develop a following in your audience.
Think about it. If you put a little effort to the story line, you can have people rolling on the floor with laughter.
If you don’t think that having a character who is completely unlikable will work, just remember a guy named Jeff and a character named Walter. Get the point?
We will talk again next week.

I love these ideas. Might work for my Eeyore personality type character.
