We are always looking for ways to suggest that you do something to help the appearance of your puppet being alive. One of the most effective ways that we can think of is to use arm rods. Cost wise they are the biggest bang for your dollar at only $20.00 each (contact us for more information about purchasing arm rods).
With just a bit of practice you can give your puppet the ability to do many different things to keep your audience focused on what the puppet is doing and keep their attention away from what you are doing.
By just using one arm rod, you can have your puppet cover his/her mouth while yawning or sneezing. The puppet can rub its tummy or scratch its head. He/she can reach over and play with your face or do smart aleck things to your hair.
The list of things that can be done is almost endless and it all helps the way that you can make yourself look even more professional in your act. We encourage you to order your puppets with arm rods when you order them.
If you are not comfortable with your skills with arm rods, just unscrew them until you want to use them. Continue to practice with them and you will find in fairly short order that you will get to where you are comfortable with them.
