Something New
Toni
One thing that is always important is to never forget that your puppet must always look alive. This covers several areas. First and foremost is that your puppet must NEVER be seen as lifeless. This means that your audience NEVER sees you put your hand in the puppet.
Always have your hand in the puppet before you come out on the stage. In the alternative use a performance trunk where you can reach inside the trunk to put your hand in the puppet without being seen by your audience.
From the moment they first see the puppet, it must appear to be animated and on the move. The puppet must never be seen as holding still for more than just a few seconds. Have the head constantly in motion. The puppet should be moving just as if it were completely alive.
Practice this until you have it perfected. Being good at this will separate you from other Ventriloquists.
We will talk more next week.
