After long and serious consideration, we have decided to try something again. If you will recall we stopped taking orders for custom puppets a couple of years ago. This was due to the fact that JET was getting too many problems by a small percentage of folks who would want a “similar” to one of the puppets we had already done that was showing on the web site.
We always tried to explain to folks that we NEVER did duplicates of a previous puppet. Although each and every person agreed to this policy, some folks would go bananas if their puppet was not as near to the original as they thought they wanted it to be.
This led to a big change a couple of years ago when we simply stopped taking orders and began only making puppets and posting them on the site to sell from there. We found that with the majority of our customers we really missed the interaction with you in the making of custom puppets. We also knew that most of you were never a problem to work with. It was a minority that was driving the change.
We think that we have found a solution to the problem. Since we removed all “former” puppets from the web site, (over 200 of them) we have done away with the long list of folks crying for a puppet just like “______”. We have decided to begin doing Custom work again when someone can tell us what they want and it is an original idea. There will not be any “similars” so there should not be any conflict over someone not getting one that looks as much like the original as they thought they wanted.
Please remember that the reason that we do not do duplicates in most cases is that we want everyone to have a complete original puppet. There are some exceptions to this. One that comes to my mind is Darci Lynn. Due to the International notoriety that she has received from Edna Doorknocker, Darci long ago purchased the performance rights to Edna. This means that regardless of how many requests that we get to do something that looks like Edna, there is no way that we can do anything that can be mistaken for Edna.
For those of you who have some ideas for original type puppets, we would be more than happy to work with you and create the character that you want. We look forward to hearing from you.
