We have often addressed the idea of learning about the character of your puppet. It is important that you know as much about your puppets character and who he/she is as you can.
However, there is one other aspect that you may not have thought of. That is your character. Is your puppet the straight man to your wisecracks? You don’t want to be just your plain old ordinary self when you are on stage do you? If not, who do you want to be? It is important that you also have a stage persona while you are performing.
Give some thought to this idea. Make some notes so that you know what you want to become in your “act”. After all when you are on stage you are an actor. It is not a long topic to discuss but it is important that you know who and what you are when you walk out on stage.
Are you a straight guy? or are you a buffoon? Make some decisions and start to work out the persona that you want to become. Maybe you will want to be different things at different times in your act.
Give is some thought and see where it goes from there.
