A while back we did a newsletter on ways to get in the front door as a performer.
\nWe just got a response from a friend of ours, Chris Thompson in Toronto Canada.<\/p>\n
He was sharing a great experience that he had and gave us permission to share it with you. I won’t put words in his mouth as he did a good job of relaying what happened.<\/p>\n

\nI had a similar experience here in
\nToronto where l reside.
\nI went on a job interview to apply
\nFor a factory job.
\nI am a certified psw, but have not
\nBeen able to find work in my
\nProffession.
\nDuring the course of the interview
\nThe lady who works in hr asked
\nMe of my interests or hobbies.
\nI have always been hesitant to
\nMention my vent dummy’s or
\nMy collection of hand puppets.
\nI thought “well you asked”
\nSo l mentioned my interest in puppets
\nStressing that it is a hobby
\nI am not a jeff dunham!
\nAnyway she was intriged by the
\nSubject.
\nAt the end of our conversation
\nAnd before l left she mentioned
\nThat l needed to return the next day
\nFor a second interview.
\nI suggested if she would like l would
\nBring “danny” a vent in for her to see.
\nI realize l could blow my chances
\nAt any job! But…. she said bring
\nIt in! I would love to see him.
\nI returned the next day and near
\nThe end of our conversation she
\nSaid what’s in your box?
\nShe new……
\nI said l have danny !
\nI began my act!
\nShe was anazed!
\nShe started to talk to the puppet
\nForgetting l was working him!
\nShe called in another co worker
\nThen before l new it l had a bunch
\nOf people laughing and asking
\nQuistions.
\nAfter things settled down.
\nI was offered a poistion.
\nI start monday full time!
\nIn addition, some of the people
\nIn the office and my interviewer
\nWant me to visit their families
\nBirthday parties!
\nI try to keep my puppets non profit
\nAnd community and volunteer
\nBased, but they insisted they would
\nPay me.
\nSo two doors were opened!
\nAll with puppets.
\nIn addition l will say that the tips
\nAnd information you offer from
\nThe dummy shop, steve and jet
\nAre incouraging and informative.
