Once again we have been contacted by a couple of
\nour friends who were curious to know what new things we
\nhave in store for the near future.<\/p>\n
I wish I could answer that question. I don’t even know
\nwhat JET is apt to do next and I am right here with here.
\nOne sure way to find out what is coming next is to contact
\nus and let us know what new type of character you would
\nlike to see in your performance trunk.<\/p>\n
Market demand is always a good way to drive an artist to
\ndo new things, and JET is no exception to that rule. If
\nyou want it and can visualize it, drop us a line and we can
\nchat back and forth to see if it is possible.<\/p>\n
Several years ago, our friend John Pizzi started in on JET
\nthat he wanted moving eyes. We had never done them before,
\nbut John would not let up. He wanted moving eyes in soft
\nsculpture. Although we knew nothing about the mechanics of
\nthem at that time, we embarked on a journey to see what was
\npossible.<\/p>\n
We found several things to be true. First, what may be
\neasy in hard figures is not so easy in soft sculpture. I
\nvery quickly came up with the mechanics of moving eyes.
\nThat was easy. However, just because it was easy in a hard
\nshelled head did not mean that the same techniques would
\nhold true on a soft puppet.<\/p>\n
We found that the soft puppet had nothing solid to attach
\nto and therefore as quick as you can say “Hello” we found
\nthat we were back to square on in the design phase.<\/p>\n
However, after tons of scrap material were generated and
\nmany long nights in the Shoppe were endured, we did in fact
\ncome up with moving eyes for soft puppets.<\/p>\n
I said all that to say this. If you want it, let us know.
\nWe are just naive enough to give it a try to see if it can
\nbe done. We never want to say never when it comes to
\nsomething new. Even if we can’t get there immediately, it
\ngives us something to start working for in the future.<\/p>\n
