It is early January 2018 and it suddenly dawned on us that it was already time to get signed up for Vent Haven ConVENTion for 2018. Got a new hotel to get used to this year. It is only the third Hotel in the history of Vent Haven. July is only 6 months away so those of us who need to start saving need to get started right now. About $40.00 a week and you are ready to go.<\/p>\n

Now. Here is the Challenge. Every year when we go to ConVENTion we get to watch literally 100’s of Ventriloquists perform. 99.9 percent are a hoot and very enjoyable to watch. There is however a common thread between most of the vents that needs a little creativity.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As each performer gets up on stage, they open a trunk and take out their little friend. Most of them start with this opening line for the puppet. “Where are we?” To which the Vent answers “We are at the Vent Haven ConVENtion in Kentucky”. Over the last 10 years we have heard that line literally what seems like 1000’s of times. There is nothing wrong with it. It is truthful but we think it needs some new creativity.<\/p>\n

Here is the Challenge. To all of you who are performing this year, COME UP WITH SOMETHING NEW!<\/p>\n

Bring out your puppet and have the puppet say something unexpected. How about something like, “Oh! I know this place. It is the same place you drag me off to every July”! Come up with something new. Most importantly, make sure that you are at ConVENTion, but then get creative with your opening line.<\/p>\n

Think about it. Get signed up and get ready to have the best 3-1\/2 days of the year.<\/p>\n
